Sustainability in Swagelok Helsinki - We deliver the best possible products
Our core business is built around a product that is, from the outset, remarkably sustainable. Sustainability has been one of Swagelok's core values since the company was founded, even before sustainability became a nowadays concept.
In 1947, Fred Lennon made a company pledge to produce the best possible products and help his customers succeed. All Swagelok® products come with a lifetime warranty, aiming for the longest possible life cycle and cost-effectiveness. In addition, the goal of Swagelok® products in an industrial environment is to ensure the safest possible operation of the systems and complete leak-tightness.

Swagelok® products - responsible production

Production certificates
Swagelok's quality system SQS is certified according to ISO 9001. Swagelok products are manufactured under the environmental and occupational safety management systems ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Production audits
Swagelok Company's sustainability audit in production is carried out by RBA, the Responsible Business Alliance.
The company has more than 20 manufacturing facilities and nearly 200 authorized sales and service centers worldwide. Production takes place in Swagelok Company's own factories in the USA, the Isle of Man and China.

100% traceability of materials
Swagelok products are fully traceable to the original material supplier and production batch. For all products covered by EN 10204 2.1 and 3.1 (CMTR/MTR certificates) it is possible to order a material certificate at the time of ordering.

Recycling of raw materials
Our austenitic stainless steel products consist of at least 70% recycled material, including 47% post-consumer and 23% industrial recycled metal recovered from material that ends up as waste in post-production processes.

Swagelok products lifetime warranty
Our components, assembly services and readymade solutions are backed by a lifetime product warranty, the Swagelok Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Silver medal in international sustainability assessment
EcoVadis is one of the world's leading sustainability assessment platforms. It assesses companies' performance in four areas:
- Environmental impact
- Labour and human rights
- Ethical business practices
- Sustainable supply chain actions
Recognition for our work
We received our first EcoVadis rating in 2024. A year later, we moved from the XS to the S category as our business grew, bringing with it more stringent criteria. Thanks to our active sustainability work, we achieved a silver medal, which means that we are among the top 15% of companies in our category worldwide.
The whole team on board
The EcoVadis assessment is a development tool for us. Our employees are involved in the design and implementation of new practices. After each assessment, we draw up a clear improvement plan with concrete targets to systematically improve our performance.
Increasing targets
As sustainability requirements become ever more stringent, so do our targets. We are working determinedly to reduce our climate impact, strengthen the sustainability of our supply chain and promote ethical business practices.

Monitoring our carbon footprint and reduction targets
In 2024, we calculated our carbon footprint for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions for the first time.

Scope 1 emissions were 7.3 tonnes CO₂

Scope 2 emissions were 19.6 tonnes CO₂
We have set the following emission reduction targets:

Scope 1: 20% reduction by 2027

Scope 2: 100% reduction by 2026
In addition, we have started to map Scope 3 emissions.

Responsibility in stakeholder activities
We are customer-driven organization and our customers' needs are the foundation of our business. We want to know our customers and add value by developing products, services and processes that meet their needs. We have a 97% reliability of supply and a Dun & Bradstreet AAA credit and risk rating.
Among our business stakeholders, we favour domestic players and strive to make transportation arrangements in an environmentally friendly, centralised and local delivery manner. Customer security is an important part of our business, which is developed as an ongoing process in all areas of our operations.
