Our Experts Support the Hydrogen Transition

Hydrogen systems require not only technically advanced components, but also expertise to help identify and manage risks. Swagelok's hydrogen experts have professional expertise from decades of research and several patents related to the hydrogen industry. Throughout the hydrogen boom in the 2020s, Swagelok has invested heavily in the further training of its own clean energy experts and in product development in the hydrogen sector.

Meet Swagelok Helsinki experts focused on clean energy solutions:

Question for the expert: what makes Swagelok products strong performers in hydrogen systems?

"Our products are manufactured from carefully optimised alloys containing a range of different elements to achieve the best possible corrosion resistance and mechanical performance. Swagelok® stainless steel 316/316L contains higher than industry average chromium and nickel contents, which is critical to the material's corrosion resistance, ductility and hydrogen embrittlement prevention." Says Sami Juntunen, Swagelok Clean Energy Specialist, .

"Our products in acid-resistant 316/316L steel offer:

  • Excellent gas tightness and vibration resistance
  • Long-term mechanical durability
  • Long life cycle and service life, lifetime warranty = outstanding value for money
  • Extensive temperature ranges
  • High pressure resistance
  • High resistance to corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement
  • Easy and repeatable installation

The choice of elastomers for hydrogen system components is also a critical part of the overall solution for chemical compatibility and long-term performance." Sami explains.
