Swagelok® adopts 2d barcodes internally to improve the quality of the product, and to monitor the progress of the product during the manufacturing process.
The change will be reflected in updated product labels for the customer, but the 2d barcodes are for Swagelok's internal use only and require special equipment to read.
- The change will not result in any other changes to product labelling or features.
- The products will gradually migrate to the new labelling, so deliveries may include both old and new labels until the current stocks are exhausted.
- Please note that 2D barcodes are externally similar to QR codes, but use a different code language.
- Swagelok has already added 2D barcodes to selected high purity products in the past.
The product categories affected by the changes are:
- B series bare shut-off valves: will be 2D barcoded from 1.5.2026
- Other stainless steel globe and diaphragm valves (except MSM models) will follow at the rear and will be barcoded 2D on the bottom of the valve body (or on the back if space is insufficient)
- The bar code is separate from the existing assembly traceability bar code on the front of the valve
- In addition, the material heat code will become a laser marking, improving visibility and repeatability.
